The New YOU: A Powerful Evening of Connection, Confidence, and Change

On May 7, 2025, we welcomed women from across Loudoun County to The New YOU: Confronting Weight & Body Image Challenges in Perimenopause and Menopause—a heartfelt, empowering wellness workshop hosted by Dr. Minnie Cruz and the team at My Wellness Physicians in Leesburg, VA.

The event created a safe space for women to talk openly about one of the most overlooked transitions in their health journey: the emotional and physical impact of body changes during menopause and perimenopause.

Why This Conversation Matters

For many women, midlife brings unexpected shifts—weight gain that won’t budge, energy that vanishes, and a reflection in the mirror that feels unfamiliar. But beyond the physical, what often goes unspoken is the toll on self-esteem and identity.

During the workshop, Dr. Cruz guided the audience through the why behind these changes—rooted in hormonal shifts, metabolic slowdown, and muscle loss—and broke down myths around diet culture, shame, and aging.

A Night of Support and Self-Discovery

Guests walked away with more than just facts—they left with tools:

  • How to reframe negative self-talk

  • Why traditional weight loss methods often fail during perimenopause and menopause

  • What to do instead: medically guided care, nutrition support, and sustainable body goals

  • How hormone balance, movement, and mindset work together to restore confidence

The atmosphere was uplifting, emotional, and deeply validating. For many attendees, it was the first time they felt truly seen in their experience.

Looking Ahead

We’re proud that The New YOU sparked a powerful movement for midlife wellness in our community—and we’re just getting started.
